HIRING NOW- Cook 2 - $15.60 per hour

Calgary, AB - University of Calgary

Monday- Sunday/ Varied Shifts- 6 am- 11 pm

 

The Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The Cook should safely handle knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, etc.  Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation of all food products for catering and cafeteria according to the principles of proper food handling.
  • Must be able to follow standardized recipes to prepare all food, safety procedure, daily temperature checks, logs and sanitation bucket rotation.
  • Maintain ability to work both quickly and efficiently as a team as well as individually.
  • Ensure all fridges and freezes are organized and all product label and dated and all standards of food safety are followed.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain high quality food products using cost efficient, sanitary methods.
  • Ensure adequate supply of food products and/or materials required in the kitchen area according to the fluctuations of demand.
  • Maintain a daily schedule of work to ensure all food is prepared for presentation at the specified time of demand.
  • Maintain continual cleaning and sanitizing of immediate and surrounding work areas.
  • Must be able to prepare and present food in an appetizing manner, with both taste and appearance.
  • To produce an adequate supply to meet constantly fluctuating demands with minimal waste.
  • Maintains a positive attitude towards customers, co-workers and the company.
  • Always greets customers in a friendly polite manner and provides good customer service to maximize sales.
  • Follow the security and emergency procedures and ensure uniform is complete, cleaned and pressed to company standards.
  • Report injuries, accidents, maintenance requirements and floor conditions to Team lead on your shift or to management.
  • Responsible to help with all aspects of operation, maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Ensure that all signage is properly presented and notify management if any changes are necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by team lead or management; may be required to do additional duties that pertain to long weekends and slow times.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to obtain food safety certification
  • Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 25 lbs.
